Multilingual applications automatically adjust displayed content to the user's language.
Since version 2.2, the Qalcwise application offers support for building multilingual applications, allowing users to customize the interface to their preferred language. Translation is available in selected system languages.
How to introduce translations
To add translation in the application, you need to select a text field, for example, in a spreadsheet. After clicking on the field, an icon with translations will appear on the right side. Clicking on it will open a window allowing you to enter translations in available languages.

To quickly preview the translation, the designer can use the option available by clicking on the 'Language' icon located on the toolbar at the top of the page, which allows selecting the language.
However, for testing the appearance of the application, it is recommended to change the language in the profile settings. To do this, go to the 'Profile' section, then enter 'General', and then select the language from the 'Application Language'.

The translated texts are displayed to the user in the following way
- Firstly, the text is displayed according to the user's culture.
- If the user's preferred culture is not translated, the text will be displayed in another culture with the same language as the user's preferred culture. For example, if the user has the culture 'en-GB' (British English), and the text is not available in this culture, the application will display the translation in another English culture, such as 'en-US' (American English).
- If neither the user's culture nor other cultures with the same language are translated, the text will be displayed according to the default culture of the page
- If a translation in the default language of the page does not exist, any existing translation is displayed.

In the workflow, we also have the ability to translate states and actions.
In the designer, the names of states and actions are displayed after the 'Name'.
When a name is added to 'Display Name', only the inbox will show translations (this is an optional parameter).

Translation using formulas
In addition to simple text translation, there is also the possibility of using formulas. For this purpose, the following formula is used:
=TRANSLATE('translation_code')
This formula enables dynamic translation of content based on the specified translation code.
To use the formula for translation, enter =translate(translation code from the translation tab) found in the panel on the right side.
Additionally, there is an option for manually adding translations by clicking on the 'Add' icon. This action will create a new row where it's possible to input translations for each available language.
There is also an option for importing and exporting translations, which allows convenient management of translations.

Instance title as plain text and formula
The system does not translate data - editable cell values. This means that if a designer uses a cell value in a formula, this value will not be translated on the main page for the user who opened the page. Instead, it will be calculated according to the language of the user who last performed an action in the app, and it will always be displayed on the main page regardless of the language set by the user.
Translation of instance title
- If the designer enters a translation (as text) in the instance title popup, it will be translated on the main page into the language of the current user.
- If the instance title contains a formula, for example "=SECTION8.A1" and the cell contains =TRANSLATE('_cell_section4.a1'), the title will be calculated according to the language of the user who last performed an action in the app, and it will always be displayed on the main page regardless of the language set by the current user.
